"David Coile writes and sings energetic, wide-ranging tunes that transcend any one genre. In addition to his fine guitar, his vocal range is extraordinary in its power, expressive versatility and gorgeous tone. When I listen to his music, I think, 'That should be out there; people should know this song.'"
Emily Bond, Colorado Film Composer
David Coile picks music up and shakes it, causing all sorts of things to come out of you that you wouldn't expect. But more important than that, his songs have a joy to them that's far too often lacking in modern music or, for that matter, the modern world. Even when his music is sad or angry (and many of his tunes are), it's still a celebration. And that's what music should be - Matthew McLean, North Carolina Writer
“David sounds at once like an old friend you’ve been listening to for years yet fresh enough to make you wonder where he’s been all your life. His captivating lyrics, uplifting beats, catchy hooks and smooth vocals keep us coming back for more.” - Terri Sunflower, New Mexico Singer-Songwriter
Long Description: David Coile has dabbled in many creative pursuits: filmmaking, comedy, and cartooning, among others. But it took a mid-life crisis to get him focused on his passion for making music.
After quitting his full-time job, David has spent the last decade as a singer-songwriter in the Boulder-Denver-Front Range scene, blending an affinity for storytelling and catchy hooks with a booming voice and unique finger-style guitar.
Creatively restless, David works within a broad range of styles and themes: from folk and pop to funk and punk, with songs about love, childhood, photography, beards, car washes, and the end of the world.
David has performed and written songs with local and national touring artists such as Shanna in a Dress, Teresa Storch, Antonio Lopez, Kevin Dooley, Finn O'Sullivan, Nichole Wagner, Pamela Machala, Tim Ostdiek, and Alicia Stockman, among others.
As host of the popular Raw Songwriting podcast, David has interviewed and learned from artists around the world about their tools and techniques for creating memorable songs.
Overtly clever, subversively shrewd…blends a punk ethos with folk sensibility, often evoking emotions the audience wasn’t expecting to feel - Jeanne McAdara, Colorado Singer-Songwriter (Parchement Doll, Tilia Americana)
